Our guides are here to help you send your things without surprises: how to pack and measure, what can and cannot travel, and what customs in the main destinations expect. This page explains who writes them, where the facts come from, and how we keep them right.
Who writes our guides
Our guides are written and checked by the Baggage & Luggage team. Baggage & Luggage is part of Onemove Limited, which moves goods of every kind, from man and van jobs to house, office and international removals. Some drafting is done with the help of software, and every guide is read and checked by a person on our team before it is published.
Where the facts come from
- Customs, biosecurity and travel rules come from official sources: GOV.UK and HMRC in the UK, and the customs and border agencies of the destination countries. We link to the page we used and show the date we checked it.
- Prices and size-based weight in our worked examples follow the same rules our price page uses, with the same ready-made item sizes, so the numbers in a guide match what you see when you ask for a price.
- What cannot be sent follows our own list of items we cannot carry, which our booking form also checks your packing list against.
Rules change. Before you send anything, check the official page linked in the guide, especially for food, medicines and the paperwork your destination needs.
Independence
- No carrier, insurer or advertiser pays for, writes or approves our guides.
- We do not sell insurance, and our guides do not recommend any insurer.
- We do not name the transport partners we use, because we choose them route by route and may change them.
- We do not accept paid links in our guides.
Keeping guides up to date
Each guide shows when it was published and when it was last reviewed. We review every guide at least every six months, and straight away when a rule it describes changes, for example a new customs threshold or a change to what airlines and carriers accept.
What our guides are not
Our guides explain how things usually work and what to check. They are not legal, tax or immigration advice. For decisions that depend on your own circumstances, such as whether you qualify for relief from import duty, check with the official body in the destination country.
Corrections
If you spot something wrong or out of date, email email us with "Correction" in the subject line and the page address. We will check it against the official source and correct the guide if it needs it.
