Baggage & Luggage is part of Onemove Limited, and Onemove moves whole homes as well as suitcases. If you have more than a few boxes, a removal is often the simpler way to move: we pack everything, load it, take it to your new home and unload it there. We move homes within the UK and abroad, to Europe and further afield.

Luggage or a full move: which do you need?

We offer both, so here is a straight way to choose.

Somewhere in between? If you have more than a handful of boxes, or one or two pieces of furniture, get an instant luggage price and send us this form as well. We will tell you which works out better.

What a full move includes

  • Packing, if you want it. We can pack your whole home, just the fragile things, or leave the packing to you. On a long journey, good packing is what gets your things there in one piece.
  • Loading and unloading at both ends.
  • Transport from your old home to your new one, in the UK or abroad.
  • Help with the paperwork for a move abroad. We tell you what the move needs and help you prepare the inventory customs ask for.

Moving less than a home? Onemove also does man and van jobs and office moves. Tell us what you have in the notes on the form.

Moving to Europe

Since the UK left the EU, moving your home to an EU country means exporting your belongings from the UK and importing them into the EU. Household goods can usually go in without import duty or VAT when you are moving your normal home there. The usual conditions are that you have lived outside the EU for at least 12 months and have owned and used the goods for at least six months. You normally need proof of the move, such as a residence document, a work contract or a property deed, and an inventory of what you are bringing.

Each country runs its own process, so we check what yours needs. Our guide to moving to Spain, France or Ireland explains it in more detail.

Moving further afield

For moves beyond Europe, such as to the USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, household goods usually travel by sea in a shipping container. A sea move takes weeks rather than days, so keep what you need for the first few weeks with you, or send it ahead as luggage.

Our guides cover what each country asks for: the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Moving within the UK

Onemove moves homes within the UK too. Choose "Within the UK" on the form and tell us where you are moving from and to.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your move using the form. It takes about two minutes.
  2. We call you to talk it through. To price a whole move properly we need to know what is going, so we may ask for a list of rooms and large items, a video call or a visit.
  3. You get a written quote that says what is included. Nothing is booked until you accept it.
  4. We pack, move and deliver on the dates we agree.

Getting ready to move

  • Tell us early. A move abroad needs more planning, and the sooner we know your dates, the more options you have.
  • Think about parking at both addresses. A removal lorry needs space close to the door. If the street has parking restrictions, you may need a permit or a parking suspension from the council. Tell us on the form and we will talk it through with you.
  • Sort before you pack. Everything you move takes space and costs money, so sell, give away or recycle what you will not use.
  • Keep valuables, documents and medicines with you, not on the lorry.
  • Changing money for the move? See our currency exchange page.

Questions people ask

Is a removal cheaper than sending boxes as luggage?

It depends on how much you have. For a few suitcases or boxes, sending them as luggage is usually cheaper. Once you have furniture, or more boxes than you could fit in a car, a removal often works out better. If you are not sure, get an instant luggage price, ask us for a removals quote too, and compare.

Do you move single pieces of furniture?

Yes. Tell us what it is and where it is going in the notes on the form, and we will tell you the best way to move it.

How far ahead should I get in touch?

As early as you can. For a move within the UK, a few weeks is often enough. For a move abroad, start talking to us two to three months before you go, so there is time for the paperwork.

Do I have to pack everything myself?

No. You choose: we pack everything, we pack the fragile things and you do the rest, or you pack it all. Tell us on the form and we will include it in your quote.
